Pre-employment Screening Suggestions for a Babysitter

When you are hiring a nanny or a baby sitter for your children, one of the things that you should do is a preemployment screening on all of the people who applying. Here are some of the checks that you should do when you trying to find a babysitter for your kids.

  • Employee criminal background check – This is the first thing that you want to do when you are looking for a babysitter. This kind of check is going to tell you if the babysitter has done anything against the law.
  • Driving record – This isn’t always necessary but for those who are 17 and older it’s a good idea. It’s helpful to check if the person has any speeding tickets.
  • Drug testing – This is another important thing to do, and unfortunately it’s good to do even on the young teenagers. Kids are trying drugs younger and younger these days.
  • Credit history – Even though this may not seem like one to do, it’s important. The reason for this is because if someone’s in bad financial trouble, they are more likely to steal from you. So it’s a good idea to get an employment credit report.
  • Child abuse/sex offender – Obviously you want to know if the person that you are hiring to watch your children has been charged with anything like child abuse.
